Semen Padang is the first cement company in Indonesia, established on March 18, 1910, by the Dutch colonial government under the name “NV Nederlandsch Indische Portland Cement Maatschappij” (NV NIPCM). Its factory is located in Indarung, Padang, West Sumatra. The company grew rapidly and became one of the largest cement factories in Indonesia.

In 1957, Semen Padang was nationalized by the Indonesian government and became a state-owned company. Since then, Semen Padang has continued to develop, with various expansions and production capacity increases. In 1995, Semen Padang merged with PT Semen Gresik and PT Semen Tonasa to form PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, a holding company overseeing several cement factories in Indonesia.

Semen Padang plays a crucial role in infrastructure development in Indonesia, particularly in Sumatra and surrounding regions. Its cement products are used in various construction projects, from residential buildings to major infrastructure projects such as toll roads, bridges, and ports.

Semen Padang is also known for its commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The company implements various programs to reduce the environmental impact of its production activities and contributes to the welfare of the surrounding communities.

To this day, Semen Padang continues to innovate and improve product quality and operational efficiency to remain a major player in both the national and international cement industry.
